Systems Transformation Initiative (STI)

Capitol Hill Group Ministry’s Transitional Housing program, Systems Transformation Initiative (STI), provides families preparing to live independently in the middle stage between emergency and permanent shelters with apartment-style housing and individualized resources.

Families in the 2-year intensive STI are supported through holistic case management, monthly meetings, life skills workshops, and referrals, as well as assistance with budgets, groceries, and transportation in order to improve their quality of life and move towards self-reliance.

In 2011, the Systems Transformation Initative served 36 Families, including 61 children.  Our clients succeed with family reunification, completing college, gaining full-time employment, and moving into their own units.

Our goal for the STI program is to stabilize families by teaching them how to tap into their inner strengths and utilize positive resources so that they may have the ability to move toward self sufficiency.  Through our Holistic Transformation Model, clients progress emotionally, physically, financially, mentally, and spiritually to fully address the complexities  of homelessness.

CHGM’s housing program participants are selected on a referral basis through the Virginia Williams Resource Center and The Community Partnership. Homeless families and individuals in Washington, DC looking for shelter services should contact:
